about the zine.
Your Heart is a Museum is a zine dedicated to BTS members Kim Namjoon and Kim Taehyung that aims to highlight their shared love of the arts in all forms—drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, architecture, music, fashion, film, literature, and more—as well as their wider interests in nature, travel, and so on, and to ultimately to evoke the warmth and cosiness they exude.
concept.
The title Your Heart is a Museum refers to the ways in which Namjoon and Taehyung have increasingly and so generously shared their interests with us over the years, as well as their own artful creations in both their status as members of BTS and as individuals. They have opened their hearts to us and allowed us to see their deeper interests, thoughts, and creative processes, thus welcoming us into the ‘museums’ they’ve curated within themselves. The visuals of this zine will reflect the cosy, earthy vibes and neutral tones that Namjoon and Taehyung so often incorporate into their fashion, social media platforms, personal creations, and overall aesthetics. Consider themes of art, nature, travel, and the broad range of interests that make them so unique. This zine aims to showcase an array of digital and traditional art (drawing, painting, mixed media, etc.,) and writing (prose, poetry, etc.). Some pages may be formatted as a traditional zine, while others may explore formats such as scrapbooks, travel blogs, and so on.
Below is a colour palette that represents the overall visual representation of the zine and its contents. Please note that this is a general guideline and colour usage is not limited to these HEX codes, tones, or saturations, but is to be used as a reference for overall aesthetic and to create a cohesive mood within the zine.
We have also created a pinterest board that includes an array of content that could be used for inspiration for your piece, but the ideas are limitless and are not constricted to this board.Your Heart Is A Museum is a SFW zine, and thus will not contain explicit material. Content may focus solely on Taehyung, solely on Namjoon, or on the two of them together (we will keep these as balanced as possible as pitches are accepted). To respect the focus of the zine, the presence of other members in works should be kept to a minimum, and romantic pairings involving Taehyung and/or Namjoon must be kept solely between the two of them. The depiction and/or description of light nudity or romantic intimacy is allowed as long as it remains appropriate for its potential viewers/readers.Content restrictions include, but are not limited to*:Explicit sexual content or nudity, violent or morally grey content, unhappy endings, excessive profanity, Taehyung or Namjoon in romantic pairings not with one another, substantial presence of other individuals.*Moderators hold the right to reject or suggest changes to pitched ideas that include potentially controversial or uncomfortable content, as well as content that more generally does not fit the concept of the theme.

contributor applications.
The number of contributors will be determined following an interest check period. A small number of guest contributors will be invited to join the zine in addition to applicants. You must be eighteen years of age or older at the time of application to participate. You may apply for multiple roles, but will be considered for only one; this will be determined by where we feel your work may fit into the zine best, or if we require more contributors in a particular role. In the event that we are short on contributors, pinch-hitters, or have the space for additional works, we will keep your interest in other roles in mind, but this is not guaranteed.Expectations of all positions are to create new, original works for the zine, follow the schedule and deadlines in a timely manner, and to respect the content restrictions, theme, general colour palette, and formatting rules.Cover Artist
The cover artist will create high-quality artwork with attention to detail in the composition, foreground and background imagery, colour, etc. for the front, back, and spine of the zine. As this is essentially the ‘face’ of the zine, this may require slight additional feedback (i.e. tone/saturation adjustments of colours) during the formatting period.Page Artists
Page Artists will have the option to create a 1-page piece or a 2-page horizontal spread of high-quality artwork with attention to detail in the composition, foreground and background imagery, colour, etc. Art may be digital or traditional (i.e. drawing, painting, collage, mixed media, etc., as long as scans/images of non-digital works can be submitted in high quality [dpi of 600 or more recommended]).Merch Artists
Merch artists will create 1-2 high-quality designs with attention to detail in the composition and colour, preferably one design for physical and one for digital. It is not necessary for applicants to have created merch prior to this experience, but it may be an asset.Writers
